Build a Psychiatry Residency Program from the Ground Up

• Serve as the founding Program Director for a new ACGME Psychiatry Residency Program targeted to welcome its first class in 2028.
• Build a four-resident-per-year program that will grow to sixteen residents across four years.
• Enjoy a balanced role structured as approximately 50% administrative leadership and 50% clinical psychiatry.

A Supported Founding Role — Not an Isolated Start-Up

• Join a large, nationally recognized nonprofit behavioral health organization with an extensive multi-state continuum of outpatient, inpatient, crisis, addiction, residential, and integrated-care services.
• Leverage an established ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency within the organization, including peer support from experienced program leadership and residency administration professionals.
• Partner with an established regional hospital system for inpatient psychiatry and required clinical rotations.
• Participate in a growing Missouri medical education environment supported by an expanding regional medical-school presence.
• Receive an academic faculty appointment through the program’s medical-school partnership.
• Work with executive and medical leadership, operational partners, program faculty, a residency coordinator, hospital partners, academic collaborators, and community stakeholders committed to the program’s success.

Your Leadership and Clinical Practice

• Lead the design, implementation, accreditation readiness, and continuous evaluation of the Psychiatry Residency Program.
• Oversee resident recruitment, selection, evaluation, promotion, remediation, professional development, and well-being.
• Develop and maintain an ACGME-aligned curriculum that promotes clinical excellence, professionalism, scholarly activity, and patient-centered care.
• Recruit, evaluate, develop, and support core and teaching faculty while creating a strong culture of mentorship and accountability.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Designated Institutional Official, Graduate Medical Education Committee, and ACGME.
• Build effective relationships across the behavioral health system, regional hospital partners, the affiliated medical school, and other clinical and community organizations.
• Maintain an active clinical psychiatry practice, with approximately half of the role devoted to direct patient care.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Board certification in Psychiatry through the ABPN or AOBNP, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the ACGME Review Committee.
• Minimum of three years of documented graduate medical education experience involving leadership, teaching, or administration.
• Current DEA registration and ongoing clinical activity in psychiatry.
• Eligibility for Missouri medical licensure and local hospital privileges.

Preferred experience: Program Director, Associate Program Director, core faculty, clerkship or site director, medical director with teaching responsibilities, or another comparable graduate medical education leadership role.
